United Methodist Men

Our UMM is very active. They meet once a month for breakfast and fellowship (2nd Saturday of each month, 7:30-8:30 am in the Sanctuary & kitchen), every Monday evening at 7:32 pm for Bible Study in room 101/103 and have regularly scheduled activities such as their bi-annual men’s BBQ, March Madness basketball tournaments, work days and trips to the Durham Bulls. Challenge Group
Soapstone Men: Fitness begins where you are today. “CHALLENGE GROUP” is an accountability group of Soapstone men who are interested in physical and spiritual fitness. If you are already an active runner or walker, or if you’d like to make a commitment to your physical health starting today, please join us Sunday mornings at 7:00 am. We meet at the Lake Lynn Community Center parking lot on Ray Road.  We open with prayer, start together, and then break out into run/jog/walk groups. Proverbs 27 says: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” The group is committed to meeting all guys where they are today and to growing together, pushing one another to be the best we can be.

Challenge Group will meet Sunday mornings at 7:00 beginning February 19th.

Men’s Bible Study & Fellowship
Beginning January 26th, the men will meet for Bible study on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. This is a special joint study with our women’s class. In April, the Monday night study will return to its normal time.

Men’s Monthly Breakfast
All men are invited for breakfast the second Saturday morning of each month, 7:32-8:48 am, in the church kitchen.  Come and enjoy great food and fellowship! February 11th breakfast we will meet at First UMC in Cary to hear a special speaker.

Serve Breakfast
The men of Soapstone will be serving breakfast at the Raleigh Rescue Mission on the 3rd Sunday of every other month. (2012 dates: February 19, April 15, June 17, August 19, October 21 and December 16).  If you are interested, please contact Doug Young.  Young men must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Hearts & Hammers
If you are interested in a local mission ministry, please contact Doug Young. The UMM will volunteer handy-man services to members of our congregation, shut-ins, and Wake County residents who have requested assistance through the Dept. of Health & Human Services.
