“Christ Caring for People Through People”

The Stephen Ministries is an organization based in St. Louis, Missouri that developed a training program to take lay persons and train them to become caregiving ministers.

Soapstone UMC enrolled in this program and sent its first Stephen Ministry Leader to training in January, 2008.  Since that time, Soapstone has sent four additional lay persons to leadership training and graduated two classes of Stephen Ministers, men and women.  We now have seven active Stephen Ministers and four active Stephen Ministry Leaders.  We provide care to those experiencing difficulties in life situations such as divorce, death of a family member, unemployment and other demanding life situations.  Stephen Ministers can meet with you in your home or at a location of your choice.
