The 4 Year Old Class

The 4 year olds will participate in the following activities during the year:

• Art
• Block building
• Chapel
• Cooking
• Dramatic Play
• Field trips
• Holiday and birthday celebrations
• Housekeeping
• Listening activities
• Music, movement, and rhythms
• Opportunities to share from home
• Outdoor playtime
• Rhymes and stories
• Science (cooking, magnet play, animal development, etc.)

The 4 year olds will enhance their development in the following:

• Self-esteem and self-confidence
• Functioning in the classroom independently and group settings
• Making appropriate choices in classroom activities
• Gross motor skills (jump rope, throwing, catching balls, etc.)
• Fine motor skills (cutting, puzzles, peg boards, prewriting and writing skills)
• Cognitive activities – exposure to the alphabet, numbers, etc.
• Creativity
• Following directions
• Respecting peers

Note: Repetition is a crucial learning tool for children at all ages. As children mature, they build on what they have learned in previous year(s).
