Chancel Choir

The Soapstone Chancel or Adult Choir is open to ALL adults and senior high youth. The ability to read music and/or previous choral experience is NOT required! During the school year, the Chancel Choir rehearses each Sunday from 6:00 until 7:30 pm and each Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:30 pm, and sings in the 8:30 and in the 11:00 services. Choir members are welcome to rehearse either on Sunday OR Wednesday. They may sing at either service or at both. The Chancel Choir also sings for special services throughout the year, such as: Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Easter, Christmas, and the annual Christmas cantata. Each September choir members enjoy a retreat to the beach for some fun and fellowship, as well as an opportunity to begin learning music for the coming fall and Christmas seasons. The Chancel Choir always loves to welcome new members. All voice parts are needed. Contact the Music Director, Pam Linke, for more information.

Covenant

Covenant is an adult ensemble that sings regularly for worship services at Soapstone. Featuring a unique combination of voices, this group enjoys trying new and challenging (primarily acapella) music as they seek to lead the people of Soapstone in worshipping God. Youth Choir

Soapstone Youth Choir is open to ALL youth, grades 6 – 12. The choir rehearses on Sunday afternoons during the school year from 5:00 – 5:30 pm. The Youth Choir sings in worship 5 – 6 times throughout the year. New members are always welcome. Contact the Music Director, Pam Linke, for more information.

Children Choirs

The Children’s Choirs are open to all kids, kindergarten through fifth grade. They rehearse as part of the Kid’s Club on Sunday afternoons during the school year between 4:00 and 5:30 pm. Kids are welcome to join the program at any time during the year. The Children’s Choirs sing for worship services several times during the school year. They are divided into two choirs based on grade level, and each group rehearses and sings separately.

  • Joyful Noise - Kindergarten and First Grade
  • Live Out Loud - Second through Fifth Grades

In addition to singing for worship services, both choirs provide music for the Family Christmas Eve service. The 2nd through 5th graders participate in an annual Spring Musical presented in early May. All the children have the opportunity to explore instrumental music, creative movement, and building projects through the KIDS CLUB ENCORE programs: KIDS CLUB RINGERS, KIDS CLUB ROLLING STONES and KIDS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Cornerstone Ringers

The Cornerstone Ringers play for worship throughout the school year. They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. The group enjoys ringing a variety of styles of music, as well as attending festivals and other handbell events. Previous experience is preferred. Participation in this group is limited. Beginning Handbell Choir

The Beginning Handbells is an intergenerational group for kids (3rd – 5th grade), youth (6th – 12th grade), and adults who have little or no experience with music and handbells. They meet Mondays from 5:00 until 6:00 pm. and ring for worship several times a year. Contact the Handbell Director, Kelly Hodges, for more information.

Kids Club Ringers

The K. C. Ringers are a Children’s Handbell and Handchime Choir. The group is offered as part of the Sunday afternoon Kid’s Club program and is open to children in second through fifth grades. The group rings for worship several times during the school year. The ability to read music is not required, but space is limited. Contact the Handbell Director, Kelly Hodges, for more information.

Youth Handbells

Youth Handbells rehearse on Monday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm during the school year. They ring in worship several times throughout the year, and enjoy attending a local young ringer’s festival in the spring. No previous experience is necessary, however participation in the group is limited. Contact the Handbell Director, Kelly Hodges, for more information.

Soapstone Praise Team

The Soapstone Praise Team plays on a regular basis for the contemporary praise and worship service. This group includes guitars, keyboard, percussion, and vocalists. They can always use more musicians. Please contact Sue Segre for more information.

Soapstone Orchestra/Brass Ensemble

This group will be newly formed. If you play an instrument but have had your instrument in the closet since high school, you need to get it out and come play with us. Varying skill levels and ages are welcome. Please contact the Music Director, Pam Linke, for more information.

Set in Stone

This is Soapstone’s Youth Praise Band. Set in Stone is for youth who have a desire to praise God through music. Utilizing a variety of guitars, keyboards, drums and vocalists, the group rehearses on Sunday afternoons and plays regularly for UMYF on Sunday evenings. They also enjoy playing for worship services throughout the year. For more information contact Dave Fouts.

Soapstone Players

2008 marks the beginning of a Christian Theatre Ministry at Soapstone. There will be opportunity for both youth and adults to show their acting skills. We will perform at special events and possibly in our worship services to illustrate a certain theme or scripture. No previous experience is necessary. Stepping Stones

Have you ever wondered how it feels to express the joy of the love of the Lord through movement? You are invited to move with us! No previous dance lessons are required. Ladies from ages eight to eighty are welcome. For more information please e-mail Vicky St. Clair or call her at 676-8519.
