On December 12, 2010 the Soapstone Youth Ministry retold the Christmas Story for their own Christmas worship service. The small groups that have been meeting this fall were each assigned a character or group from the story and asked to share that person/s part of the story. The youth laughed and applauded as their peers shared their part of the story. Worship opened with Set In Stone leading music as they have done for all youth worship and program nights this fall. We are blessed by the musical leadership of these young people. In the end, a great time was had by all in sharing the wonderful story of God’s gift to us.

Sunday School for Youth

Sunday School classes for youth: 6th, 7th & 8th grades in room 101, and 9th-12th grades in room 111.  The Confirmation Sunday School class meets through May in room 109. Contact the church office at 846-2212 for information.

Confirmation

Youth in 7th – 9th grades are invited to participate in a confirmation class which is offered yearly beginning in September and ending in May. Each Confirmand is paired with an adult mentor who journeys with them through an exploration of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in the context of God’s relationship with us from creation until now. Once the process begins, we cannot accept new Confirmands for the current year. For more information or to volunteer to serve as a confirmation partner, please call the office at 846-2212.

The Confirmation class recently participated in Project Linus.  Project Linus’ mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans lovingly made by volunteer “blanketeers.”

Senior High Discussion Groups

Our Senior High Discussion Group meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Each week students discuss a topic that could be cultural, topical, or a current event. To aid in discussion students and adult facilitators may use the Bible, the UM Book of Discipline, magazines, and newspapers. Guest speakers are invited for some topics. This group meets from 7:00 – 8:15 pm at the church.

Safe Sanctuary

The General Conference of The United Methodist Church, in April 1996, adopted a resolution aimed at reducing the risk of child sexual abuse in the church. Please see Forms & Other Resources for Background Check Release, Volunteer Application and detailed Safe Sanctuary information
